As some of you already know, we recently realized that the scheduled dates for the conference coincide with those of Yom Kippur in September 2013. This is very unfortunate, especially in light of the topic of the conference, and it has meant that a number of our invitees will be unable to join us. We deeply apologize for this oversight, which should have been caught and corrected long before this point. We have now looked into trying to reschedule, but this has proved almost impossible. Between other Jewish holidays, Notre Dame home football games, and other bookings for our conference center, it is very hard to find a more suitable date – quite aside from the fact that those of you who have already accepted our invitation may no longer be able to come if we make a change. As a result, we have decided to keep the conference as currently scheduled, on September 13-14, but we will very much miss those colleagues who cannot join us, and we regret our mistake that has necessitated their absence.
